Alce Cura Grillo is a vibrant and savory, light to medium-bodied dry white wine. At first, the nose opens with lovely delicate aromas of spring flower, citrus, herb and white stone fruit followed by a hint of what can be described as Mediterranean sea spray scents. The round, juicy palate offers up lemon zest, ripe peach, juicy grapefruit, pineapple, almond and mineral alongside a vibrantly fresh acidity. Apple notes linger with a hint of Mediterranean herb while a saline note provides backup on the finish. Read more. . .
This wine is a perfect introduction to the variety. Delicately scented and soft on the palate, it offers classic citrus and floral notes in a balanced elegant style. Clear, shiny, pale lemon in color, the aromas of lime and peach complement undertones of green apple and a hint of melon. On the palate, it is smooth and refreshing with lemon and line followed by lingering stone fruit, a crisp acidity and a long, pleasant finish. Read more. .
Drinking Alce Cure Chianti is a visceral tasting experience. It offers aromas of an Italian grocery store: preserved sour Amarena cherries, dried oregano, dark, aromatic balsamic vinegar, followed by a meaty, dry salami, dark espresso and a whisper of sweet tobacco. This Chianti smells and tastes like Italy. There is a little tartness on the palate, but they are the classic characteristics of Sangiovese:rich plum, dried cherry, bramble fruit and a fatty meaty note tempered with balsamic vinegar, herbs and espresso. Earthy and rustic, high in tannins, overall it is reminiscent of cherries and strawberries, and with its high acidity, it pairs well with food.
Alce Cura Toscana Rosso falls into this latter category, it’s fresh and well-scented of black and red cherries. It is on the lighter-to-medium side and is perfect for drinking now. Beyond Alce Cura’s easy-drinking style, it’s exceptionally smooth with a lingering dry finish. It’s rich and meaty on the nose— yet relatively light on the palate—notes of earthy violets and tart cherry dominate, followed with notes of cedar throughout.
